Robert Young

Medium: Photography | Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia

I’ve been working as a professional photographer for 30 years, I’ve been creating art with a camera since I was a child.

Largely self-taught, I honed my photography skills working as an assistant photographer in large commercial studios in southern Ontario. Early in my career I was fortunate enough to land my dream job when I signed a contract to be represented by Masterfile, a premier stock photography agency. At the time it seemed a very exclusive club of about 30 Canadian photographers. I had the opportunity to rub shoulders with photographers I admired since I was a teen, photographers like Freeman Patterson, John and Janet Foster, Ted Grant and Sherman Hines. Several years later I signed with the world’s largest stock photo agency, Getty Images.

My photographs have sold worldwide to clients as diverse as Bon Appetit, Billboard, Forbes, IBM, Kodak, Popular Mechanics and Time.

General Information on Printing, Mounting and Editions

All the prints offered in my listings here are made on Fuji Crystal Archive Flex. This is a premium quality, archival, high gloss printing material. It has the highest permanence rating of any chromogenic paper today. This material is frequently used by photographers for exhibition purposes.

If requested inkjet prints (giclee) can be made on Epson Exhibition Fiber paper. This is a soft gloss paper exhibition quality paper.

Only full size prints, mounted or unmounted, will be produced in limited editions of 10. Each print is initialed and dated on the front right corner. A label is included with the print designating the edition number and is signed by the artist.

The prints are facemounted to 1/8” plexiglass with a substrate of 1/8” Dibond. A tubular aluminum frame recessed in from the edge of the print is mounted on the back of the Dibond to prevent warping and facilitate hanging the artwork. The frame gives the viewer the impression of the print floating off the wall. The plexiglass adds a three dimensional, gemlike quality to the prints.

Large mounted prints are shipped in specially padded Artwork cardboard shipping cartons.

Prints will be shipped in a heavy cardboard tube and arrive ready for mounting/framing.

Please see each listing for supplemental photos with packing examples.

All packaging & shipping charges are included in the price of each photograph.
